When we give money to someone on the street, we may mean well—but too often, we’re unintentionally supporting a cycle that hurts both the individual and the neighborhood. Because homelessness is rarely just about housing. It’s often rooted in untreated mental health issues, compounded by addiction and community systems that fall short.
Instead of handing out money, hand a person in need this card. It can be used for a meal, a warm bed, and a path forward. It’s a way for the Pittsburgh community to give them a hand up instead of a hand out.
Hand the cards out and encourage them to call to get the help they need to become the best version of themselves.

The Productive Pittsburgh Gold Card is available to individuals, businesses, and organizations who want to take an active role in supporting our city’s homeless population. It’s simple, just fill out your information on the contact page, and we’ll mail you 10 ProductivePittsburgh Gold Cards. You can also call Light of Life at (412)803-4120 to receive the cards.
When you see someone homeless or in need, instead of handing them money, give them a Productive Pittsburgh Gold Card and encourage them to call Light of Life Rescue Mission for the help they need.
